Working on some new pieces in watercolor...needing a break from the oil paint for a bit. I want to play around with the relationship between the subject and its surroundings. Thinking about portraying them as one continuous plane.
So, I spent half the morning in the basement/studio, and half the morning on a paper. I'm ready to eat some chemically enhanced Thanksgiving food now...bring on the steroid turkey!!!!
Come see the show! Plane Form, an annual exhibit, features the work of 4 C.W. Post MFA students. These artists display new and upcoming ideas and concepts from self-discovery to epidemic fears.
Reception will take place at the Tilles Center of Performing Arts, Located at C.W. Post University, Monday, 11/8 from 5-8pm.
So, I started putting these elaborate frames on all my pieces. I love the way they signify my untraditional work, and at the same time, my work mocks the frames. This makes for an interesting conflict. The intention behind the frames is actually to further the concept of tangibility, reenforcing that these are products. I'm receiving mixed reviews..."framing is so taboo"..."nobody frames art anymore"...so on and so forth. I don't think my pieces work quite as well without the frames, hmm...what to do, what to do. KEEP!
